So, who's the guy behind The Baby Boomer Nomad? That's me, Rob. And let me tell you, I've had quite the journey to get here! My working life has been all over the map, from delivering papers and washing dishes way back when, to selling cameras and stereos, managing marketing for electronics, and even delivering pizza! I've also spent my fair share of time behind the bar, waiting tables, and even spinning records as a nightclub DJ! Then there was a significant chunk of my life – 24 years – in the Army, where I served as an Enlisted Soldier and then a Commissioned Officer in the Field Artillery. I also took on various functional assignments in Plans, Training, and Operations at regional and national command level headquarters. I retired as a Major. After that, I jumped into the tech world, doing everything from operations management and HR to software implementation and even being a VP and partner in a software company. It's been quite the ride! Along the way, I've navigated a few health challenges, which have really shaped my perspective and made me even more determined to embrace life, including exploring budget travel for seniors. Beyond work, family is a huge part of my life. I have a daughter from my first marriage, and for over 20 years, I was raising my second wife's two granddaughters. I also looked after her youngest daughter for a decade. Now, I'm even helping out with my great-grandson. So, yeah, life's been full, and I'm ready for this next adventure in solo traveling and sharing tips on how to travel with Boomer Nomad!
The plan is BOLD to say the least... I’m embarking on a social experiment by solo traveling the world on just $2500 a month! I will keep it simple: I will 'Walk the Earth' and share my story, demonstrating how others can also embrace budget travel for seniors. They will see how I live, what food I eat, and what I experience along the way!
